Canadian here. I just got the Southwestern treatment, after my naive husband invited the Estonian salesperson in to chat with me. (Thanks, hon!) Very vague language describing her purpose, quick to get her shoes off and get seated, etc. Initially denied she was selling anything outright, but then worked her way back to the pitch. Didn't take me long to figure it out and notice that the books were of poor quality. I was "mined" for info about neighbors, but gave very little. She even asked if I knew anyone who would be willing to take her and her student friends out for Sunday outings. Seemed like a nice gal, but whatever. My poor neighbor shelled out $200 for a set of books. (The salesperson lied and said we referred her to them.) She's currently trying to stop the order now that I've sent her a link to your site and others detailing the company's poor practices. Thanks for keeping such a wealth of information online. Cheers. |
